This is our fandom.
We spend more money than we have on going to conventions where we barely get to meet our favourite people for more than two minutes. We watch films and television shows that we never would have watched, but watch and enjoy them because someone from Supernatural is in it. Cast members that have been in one episode are loved as much as long term characters. We raise money for charities, and help other members of the fandom. We meet some of our best friends. We share stories, obsessions, and find connections for life. We love the cameramen, we love the make-up artists, we love the producers. We celebrate theirs and each others birthdays. We joke with each other and we joke with the cast. We know the show inside out. We know things that people who just ‘watch the show’ don’t know. People who have never been a part of the show are a part of our family, such as people like Danneel Ackles. We send each other presents. We text each other. We phone each other. We connect with people all over the world. We break world records. We’ll follow Jared and Jensen through their careers long after Supernatural ends for good. We’ll treasure the times we watched Twitter explode when something good happened. We fight and argue, we disagree with each other, we get mad at each other and yell at each other.
But that’s what families do.
And today, we showed Jared and Genevieve how much love we all have for each other, and for them, by coming together and showing our support and love for their brand new family.
This is our fandom.
